Tag conversion goal

A conversion goal is the action you want more visitors to take, like signing up or starting a checkout. SplitDuck uses it to decide which version of your copy is winning.

Call splitduck.track() with an event name when the action happens.

<script>
  // Call this once the action succeeds, e.g. after a signup form submits.
  splitduck.track("signup_completed");
</script>

Set it as an experiment's goal

  1. The first time an event is tracked, it appears under Custom events on your Experiments page.
  2. Open an experiment and choose the event as its Conversion event.
  3. From then on, each time a visitor who saw that experiment triggers the event, it counts as a conversion for the version they saw. Until it's chosen, tracking the event doesn't count toward any experiment.

Rules for tracking

  • Track the finished action. Call it once, after the action succeeds (after the form submits), not on the click that starts it.
  • Keep names stable. Use short names that describe what happened, like signup_completed or demo_booked.
  • Safe to call early. Calls made before the script has finished loading are queued and sent once it loads.
